This week saw the first “Arts and Culture” assembly of interested community leaders at the Tucson Association of Realtors building.  The keynote speakers, Dr. Pete Likins, Mike Jameson, Kathleen Perkins, Nancy Lutz and Glenn Lyons, prepped the crowd for the morning’s efforts.  With over 100 participants, groups were formed to discuss the most pressing issues surrounding the arts in our community.   The desire to become known as the Arts Center of the West was the prevailing finding from all of the discussions. The need to have an over-arching group that could keep track of all of the various organizations in town and their events was also deemed critical.  Having a community calendar that is all-inclusive of the cultural events in town would be a great start for this potential group.
