Ad tax is a non-starter We are grateful to the Tucson City Council for voting down the proposed tax on advertising at the March 23, 2010 City Council meeting. This was clearly in defiance to the recommendations of the City staff that proposed the Ad Tax idea along with a stack of other creative taxes. Back in 1972, the City did impose this regressive tax, finally phasing it out in 1993. That entire time, the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce fought for its elimination. Pima County ONESTOP offers Summer Youth Employment Program Pima County Community Services Employment & Training/ONESTOP will be offering its Summer Youth Employment Program this year. Were you there? Good Morning Tucson in March March's Good Morning Tucson provided the attendees a look at the Central Arizona Project. Dave Modeer, General Manager of Central Arizona Water Conservation District, which manages and operates the Central Arizona Project (CAP), discussed not only water issues, but electric generation and the potential problems with new EPA restrictions on air quality and emissions. Women in Business holds its first event! On March 24, 2010 at The Forum At Tucson, the Tucson Chamber held its first ever Women In Business Networking Lunch. With a packed house, Cindy Parseghian with the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation and the 2009 Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year, gave a rousing presentation on her passion, her family and her life's work.
