Chamber kitchen gets a facelift
Jack Camper, President & CEO of the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce
After the June Scholarship Reception, this year’s Chairman of the Board, Gary Clark, Vice President-SW Gas, wanted to know who prepared the great food. . .
As impressed as he was for our staff member's resourcefulness, Gary nonetheless saw a need to revamp the thirty-plus year old kitchen.  Click here to read more . . .

Adding Doubletree, Embassy Suites downtown is a win-win
By Humberto S. Lopez
Contrary to published reports you might have read elsewhere, my proposal to convert the Hotel Arizona to a Doubletree convention-quality hotel is not an alternative or a substitute for the proposed Sheraton Convention Center Hotel. If Tucson is going to be in the convention center business, we need a convention center hotel.  Click here to read more . . .

YOUR Chamber assisting business!
The Chamber does an excellent job of being watchdog for its members’ well-being.
“How?,” you might ask.   The Chamber does it through a variety of ways – some more obvious than others and some more immediate than others. Click here to read more . . .

Tucson Water Service extensions

For several months, Mayor and Council have been evaluating and refining a

2007 interim water service policy which establishes criteria for water service extension. In select areas this action has the effect of limiting Tucson Water service extensions.  Click here to read more . . .  If you are a property owner that has been relying on the assumption of water service from the City of Tucson, please click here to view the attached map.

The Hermitage Cat Shelter – 45 years of a lasting mission
This summer marks the 45th anniversary of The Hermitage Cat Shelter and too few Tucsonans are aware of this hidden treasure.  The Hermitage Cat Shelter is Arizona's FIRST no-kill, no-cage cat shelter and sanctuary founded in 1965 by Sister Seraphim, a Russian Orthodox nun. Click here to read more . . .

Stable Footing: Avoid ankle sprains, strains with simple precautions
Provided by Ed Redmond
Association Coordinator
SCF Arizona
Since the first steps we take as children, we tend to take standing and walking for granted – until one misstep causes great pain.  Among the most frequent workplace injuries each year are strains or sprains to the ankles or feet. Sprains are injuries to ligaments – Click here to read more . . .

Power Networking Lunch...July’s PNL was HOT! HOT! HOT! Over 80 Chamber members met at Hotel Arizona for July’s hi-speed networking event. Attendees were busy passing out business cards and building relationships as they switched tables throughout the event. US Bank and American Family Insurance were sponsors of the event. The next event will be in September so check the Chamber website for details and to RSVP.  Click here for photos of the event.

GMT hosts Dr. Michelli…Friday’s Good Morning Tucson event was a success! Approximately 280 guests attended the breakfast event at the Westin to learn more about customer services. Dr. Michelli addressed the audience for well over an hour and infused attendees with knowledge on how to improve customer service and empower employees. In this economic era, customer service is key to keeping customers. A special thanks to the GMT committee for their hard work and enthusiasm for this event! Click here to view photos from this great event. The next GMT will be September 3 at Tucson Country Club.

Women in Business in July!...July’s meeting was a very informative one. Karen Whitley, Financial Consultant with AXA Advisors, came to talk about Financial Wellness for Women. According to Karen, women tend to live longer than men and the average woman accumulates less retirement funds than men due to fewer years in the workforce. It is important for women to act now and take care of themselves financially.  Everyone had a great time making contacts! Our next WIB meeting will be August 25.  Click here to view photos from the event.
