As the voice of business for the Tucson metropolitan area, the Chamber depends upon the ideas and energies of volunteers to help develop projects, policy and programs. More than 700 members actively participate in the committee process, working on a variety of issues ranging from dissecting complex legislative issues to providing business educational programs in our children’s schools. Through the committee structure, Chamber members help set the course of their organization and ensure that the Chamber’s actions are an accurate expression of the needs and concerns of the business community. Mission: Foster a preeminent business expansion, creation and retention program by regularly gathering information on the needs of business as well as design programs to address those needs. Address issues relating to key expansion, creation and retention efforts through cooperations and internvention with local government. Mission: Promote the Chamber’s speakers bureau of local volunteers from the business community who visit local schools to talk to students about basic work skills and business life. Work as a liaison for area schools looking to collaborate with local businesses on partnerships and sponsorships. Recognize the needs of employers and industry as it relates to workforce development in the community through research and surveys done in conjunction with the Business Development Committee. Work with legislature and local government on issues impacting education in the area. Candidate Evaluation Committee (CEC)
Mission: Interview candidates and analyze their background, qualifications and postures with respect to Chamber issues affecting the membership. Disseminate candidate positions to members. Reports the results of the candidate evaluations to the Chamber’s Political Action Committee. Staffed by Paul Parisi, Chamber vice president for governmental affairs.
Los Compadres Committee (LCC)
Mission: Assist in hosting at the Business After Hours at the Chamber Receptions, participate in ribbon cuttings and grand openings and conduct membership surveys. Staffed by Cindy Brown, Chamber coordinator of membership services.
