Dillinger Days Fest to celebrate 75th anniversary of capture
The Dilliger Days Festival is slated for Saturday, Jan. 24, the 75th anniversary of the capture of the 1930s gangster by Tucson police.
Festivities begin at 11 a.m. and will be held in the east end of Downtown, in the vicinity of Hotel Congress and the Historic Depot. Live music, vintage cars  and walking tours will be featured. There will be a re-enactment of the Dillinger capture, with two scenes shown separately early in the day and the combined show at 4 p.m.

Gardening workshops set for winter, spring seasons
The Pima County Cooperative Extension has released its schedule of gardening workshops for the winter and spring seasons, to be held at the Murphy-Wilmot Branch Library and the Oro Valley Library.
The workshops will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesdays at the Wilmot library for 17 weeks starting January 7, and 1 p.m. Fridays at the Oro Valley library, beginning January 9. The workshops last about an hour and are free to the public.

Friendly exhibition opens in Bisbee
"The Drawings of Ray Friendly" is the newest exhibition to open at the Central School Project in Bisbee, which will run from January 10 through February 1.
The opening reception will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. , and the gallery will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lodge HR workshops slated for Jan. 7, 28
Harry S. Lodge and Associates will be presenting a pair of human-resources workshops in January, to be held at the office of the Alliance of Construction Trades, 465 West St. Mary's.
There is a workshop slated for Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 8:30 a.m. that will daddress changes to the American with Disabilities Act and the Family Medical Leave Act. This workshop will cost $49 per person for the three-hour event, but $29 for clients of Lodge and Associates.
Another workshop is slated for Wednesday, Jan 28, at 8:30 a.m. and will address wrongful termination and best practices. This seven-hour seminar is worth six continuing-education credits and costs $99 per person or $75 for Lodge clients.

Gearing up for Tucson Rodeo, Parade
The Tucson Rodeo Parade is slated for Thursday, Feb. 26, at 9 a.m. beginning at Ajo Way and Park Avenue. Those who wish to participate in the rodeo are encouraged to get a packet at www.tucsonrodeoparade.org and submit by Monday, Jan. 12.
Tickets for the event are also available on the Web site. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children.

Arizona Home Show slated for TCC in January
The Arizona Home Show will be held Friday through Sunday, January 9-11, at the Tucson Convention Center.
There will be a $10,000 home improvement giveaway, and celebrities like Russ Hemmis of HGTV's "Design on a Dime" and Gary Sohmers of "Antiques Roadshow" will be in attendance.

Janssen exhibition features film, lecture
"Oh l'amour," the Stephane Janssen exhibition now open at the University of Arizona Center for Creative Photography, will have a film screening and alecture planned before its close in March.
The film, "Worst Possible Illusion: The Curiosity Cabinet of Vik Muniz" was shot in Tucson and was directed by  Anne-Marie Russell, executive director of the Museum of Contemporary Art. It takes an in-depth look at Muniz and his work. The screening will be held Thursday, Jan. 29, at 5:30 p.m.
Artist Charlie White will be presenting a lecture, "Violence, Desires and Social Anxieties," discusses these troubles through a artist's perspective. This event will be held Thursday, Feb. 5, at 5:30 p.m.

Tucson to host one of 10 Earth Day "Spotlight Conversations"
Tucson has been selected as one of 10 U.S. cities to host a "Spotlight Conversation"  regarding local climate issues, to be held on Earth Day, April 22.

Now that the holidays are over, Old Tucson Studios is launching two new live shows - "Billy the Kid, Scourge of New Mexico," a gunfight sho9w, and "The Gold of Santa Maria," a new stunt show.
