Good Morning Tucson learns from Dr. Elizabeth Celania-Fagen
October 2nd Good Morning Tucson was a super event.  Dr. Elizabeth Celania-Fagen, Superintendent-TUSD, provided the audience with an insiders view of important issues facing the education process in southern Arizona's largest school district.  while securing adequate funding for the district is certainly a priority for the newly appointed superintendent, she made it clear that it was not her only mandate.

Educating students the same old way with the same old methods and expecting to produce young adults ready to continue with their education and/or careers in the new century is simply not a reasonable expectation, Dr. Fagen explained.  Looking around the country at examples of success where money wasn't the major differentiation in results, Dr. Fagen and her team have identified new teaching and organizational concepts that have proven highly successfull in other learning institutions.  She made it clear that waiting for money in order to fix the district's problems was not an option.

The proactive and upbeat discussion left the audience with a strange sense of optimism, despite the problematic cuts in state funding.  It is clear that this superintendent and her leadership team do not plan to stand still or to use lack of money as an excuse for less than stellar educational outcomes for the students.  Stay tuned:  They're moving ahead!

Events are essential pieces to the Chamber members’ investment. They allow our members to be informed of various political offices’ goals and policies, support the University of Arizona Athletics Department, and of course, network! We are always open to hearing from members who want to host and/or cater food for one of our many events, so feel free to contact us. It is great exposure for your business!

Since the Chamber does not receive any public funds, sponsorships are very important to the Tucson Chamber as they allow us to continue our various events and programs of work within the Chamber.

Sponsorships give a Chamber member the ability to advertise its presence in the community and show its support of Chamber programs. Several sponsorship packages are available to serve all types and sizes of businesses. Packages range from $200 for a golf tee sign at the annual golf tournament to $10,000 for the title sponsorship of our prestigious Man and Woman of the Year/Founders Award Luncheon. There is a sponsorship opportunity for every member to take advantage of throughout the year. All Chamber members are eligible to sponsor any event. Make sure to include sponsorships in your marketing plan each year as it is a win-win situation for the sponsor and the Chamber.

For more information or suggestions regarding events or sponsorships, please contact Kerri Wilson at kwilson(at)tucsonchamber.org or 792.2250 ext. 176.     Thank you for your interest and we look forward to working with you soon!
