2009 was a banner year for the Tucson Chamber!
The Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce has once again ended the year on a high note.  Despite the economic situation in which the country, our state and our region found itself for the last twelve months, The Chamber moved ahead, setting positive directions for our community, taking important stands on legislation, collaborating with other business groups, and working to help all businesses, large and small alike.  I am proud of all that we accomplished. Governor Brewer Attends Legislative Reception
“With all these Legislators here, I’m calling this a special session!” announced Governor Jan Brewer when attending this year’s Holiday Legislative Reception held on December 9, 2009 at the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.  Co-hosted by the Southern Arizona Home Builders Association, Alliance of Construction Trades, Arizona Builders Alliance and the Metropolitan Pima Alliance with Chamber sponsors Cox Communications and SCF Arizona, this year’s reception was spectacular.  Read more . . .

TMCC helps make Tucson Developmental Services more business-friendly
This past December marked the 1-year anniversary of the revised and consolidated Development Standards for the City of Tucson. After two years of tedious work, then City Manager Mike Hein approved the new standards creating a Development Package option. Read more . . .

Chamber fights to halt Oppressive Sign Code Changes
Over the past two months the Chamber has been working hard to put an end to potential changes to the City of Tucson's Sign Code in relation to banners and other temporary signs. Read more . . .

Chamber’s first survey results
The November TMCC survey focused primarily on the Chamber News, Happenings, their content, and their methods of distribution.  This survey is now closed and another one will be launched the first part of January regarding the City sign codes. Read the results of this survey . . .

State of the State
The Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is proud to host the annual State of the State Luncheon and Address. The event will take place on Tuesday, January 12th at the Tucson Convention Center. Governor Jan Brewer will use this opportunity to provide the residents of Southern Arizona an update of the happenings of the state as well as illustrate the future of the state and the goals for her office.  Registration begins at 11:00 am with the luncheon beginning promptly at 12 noon. Cost is $45/person and reservations are required in writing. There is a special discount for purchasing tickets for BOTH the State of the State and State of the City (scheduled for January 29th) events. Tickets are then $40/person/event. That is a $10 savings! Multi Chamber Business Expo
The Tucson Metropolitan, Tucson Hispanic, Northern Pima County, Marana, and GLBT Chambers of Commerce are pleased to host the 2010 Multi-Chamber Business Expo presented by Tucson Newspapers. The expo will be held in conjunction with Governor Brewer’s State of the State Luncheon/Address at the Tucson Convention Center Grand Lobby on January 12, 2010. Power Networking Lunch
Kick-off 2010 right by gathering new contacts at the first Power Networking Luncheon event on Wednesday, January 20th.  This every-other-month event will be held at Desert Diamond Casino Hotel located at 7350 S. Nogales Hwy. Attendees have the opportunity to pass out their business card to dozens of potential clients and customers in a short period of time. Tucson College celebrated their new campus located at 5151 E. Broadway Boulevard on December 2nd.  The grand opening included a job fair, food, music and fun.  The public is invited to meet the friendly staff and students and take a tour of the new facility.
