If you are a small business with 25 or fewer employees you recently received a survey from the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (TMCC).  Although the deadline for submitting your response isn't until Wednesday, July 6, we have enough responses already to know what you are thinking. Chamber's PAC kicks off fundraising drive
The Committee for Responsive Government, the Tucson Chamber's Political Action Committee (PAC), kicked off a fundraising campaign in June. What is a PAC? It is a committee dedicated to identifying and actively supporting pro-business candidates at the local and state levels and the greater Tucson region. It is the tool by which we are able to fund candidate interviews, forums, and fund informational materials on the candidates and their platforms. They are the means by which organizations involved in the political scene convey their message to their members and followers. Read more here.

Welcome Lori Banzhaf to the Chamber
The Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce welcomes Lori Banzhaf to the position of Director of Member Services. Lori began her official duties with the Chamber on Wednesday, June 22. She will be responsible for leading the Chamber's membership sales, member retention, non-dues sales and events. The Heat is Here
How does heat affect you? Because human beings are warm-blooded, our bodies maintain a fairly constant internal temperature, even when exposed to extreme temperatures. Heat Stroke is the most serious of heat illnesses. This occurs when the body's temperature. Heat exhaustion is a milder form of heat-related illness that can develop in to other heat-related conditions. Click here for more information.

Overexerting can lead to workplace injury

Preventing injuries caused by overexertion can be a concern for employers in Arizona’s intense summer heat. According to “Injury Facts 2011,” an annual work safety publication, overexertion accounts for about 3.3 million emergency room visits and is the third leading cause of unintentional injuries in the United States. June Events Wrap-up 

"In The Know" Seminar Series - Medical Marijuana Act: A Legal Perspective 
A group of business owners gained access to an expert on the Medical Marijuana Act at the latest "In The Know" seminar. Our expert was Joe Kroeger of Snell & Wilmer.  Mr. Kroeger was a wealth of information about the issues and myths surrounding the controversial legislation and discussed some of the
policies businesses need in place to protect themselves. 

Health-Wellness-Safety Fair/Monsoon Safety Awareness Week
The fair, held June 11 at Park Place Mall, was a huge success! Over 92 children were fingerprinted while adults learned a great deal about safety during the monsoon season. Over 38 vendors exhibited, attracting all ages, and distributed information on health, safety, and wellness. For more pictures, click here.
      

June's Business After Hours mixer was a GREAT event.
