The economy: How did we get here?

We’re all in this mess together, including the financial institutions. As we struggle to extricate ourselves as a country, a state, and a community from the downward pull of this most recent recession, many people are looking for a place to blame.  Since the first “bailout” (called the Troubled Asset Recovery Plan or TARP) focused primarily on rescuing failing financial agencies—including banks—that group seems to be the best target for that blame. But be clear:  they didn’t do it alone. We all played a part.

State of the State another big hit
Although typically held at the beginning of the legislative session in January, this year required a schedule change to accommodate the change in leadership for the State. Governor Janet Brewer, as expected and as soon as her schedule could permit, spoke at the State of the State luncheon hosted by the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
