A message from your CEO, Mike Varney and COO, Bill Holmes
In less than two weeks I will have the privilege of serving the greater Tucson metro area as president and CEO of the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.  I am grateful for the trust the Board has placed in me.  I am also aware that the Board and the business community are looking for some fresh, new ideas.  I pledge to deliver. Safety Corner

Stress in the Workplace
Keeping stress in check could create a healthier - and safer – workforce. Recently released research from the New York based Families and Work Institute found 41 percent of workers who responded to a survey on workplace stress reported experiencing stress “often” or “very often” on the job. Heat Safety from SCF Arizona
Outdoor workers exposed to the searing Arizona heat need to be trained to prevent and to recognize the symptoms of heat illnesses. Because of this, each year SCF Arizona, the state’s leading advocate of workplace safety and largest provider of workers compensation insurance, reminds Arizonans that when the temperature is high, the body has a more difficult time cooling itself. Safety Pays
The Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce offers an association plan for members who have SCF Arizona as their workers compensation insurance. We invite you to join the other association businesses and become eligible to receive bonus dividends, based on your safety records. Call Cindy Brown at the Chamber, 792-2250, Ext. 154, for more information.

Congratulations to the following members who have achieved zero-percent losses on their workers compensation safety records.

Second Downtown Tour SOLD OUT!
Yes-our second tour was at capacity! Downtown is certainly alive with businesses prospering. The group toured 64 and 44 E. Broadway properties and went up to the 22nd floor of the tallest building in Tucson - 1 South Church. We made a stop at the FOX Theatre and made our way east on Congress highlighting hot spots along the way. The tour ended with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres at Maynard's cool and shady patio. Thanks to Board member Fletcher McCusker of Providence Service Corp and Buzz and Ike Isaacson of CBRE for being our tour guides! Another tour will be scheduled in the future. You can check out pictures on our Facebook page or click here.
