The Chamber’s Chairman's Circle just got bigger—a lot bigger.  Fletcher McCusker, CEO and co-founder of Providence Service Corporation, joined the Chamber and brought his company into the Chairman’s Circle in August.  I want to personally welcome Providence Service Corporation and Fletcher McCusker to our great organization.  Click here to read more. . .

Keep the heat on . . .
Jack Camper, President & CEO of the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce
Have you contacted your representative to endorse the Chamber's Immigration Reform Proposal yet?  With elections right around the corner and the prospects of contentious campaigns, we in Southern Arizona cannot lose sight of one of the most important issues facing our community, nor can we allow those who would serve as our representatives in government to ignore it, hoping it will simply go away.  Click here to read more. . .

Keep workers safe from hazardous materials
SCF Arizona your Work Comp Specialist
Provided by Ed Redmond, Association Coordinator
More than 30 million U.S. workers are exposed to hazardous chemicals each year on the job, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. At the same time, one of the most common reasons OSHA cites businesses for failing to comply with workplace safety regulations is because they fall short in meeting the federal agency’s Hazardous Communication Standard (HazComm), which is designed to protect workers from exposure to dangerous chemicals. . .

Back Safety Seminar... The most recent Safety Seminar at the Chamber was on Back Safety presented by Steffanie Cox PT and DuWayne Crook OT from HealthSouth Rehabilitation Institute of Tucson. Fifteen attendees leaned the importance of proper lifting as well as ways to help alleviate back injuries on the job. Back injuries are one of the leading costs of workers’ compensation claims. This seminar is just one of the continuing Safety Educational Seminars sponsored by the Chamber to help with lowering your worker’s compensation costs. Having employees learning safe practices at work is the best way of putting more money in your pocket.

Women in Business in August! PAY ATTENTION!... That was Officer Becky Noel's of TPD biggest personal safety tip! She explained that there are MANY crimes committed each day that people don’t realize happen in our own community. The stats she provided were eye-opening. Officer Noel's top tip was to pay attention to surroundings. It is important for everyone, especially women, to walk through parking lots to their cars with their keys held in a certain position while looking around. Criminals hang around in parking lots waiting for their next victim and a distracted person is an easy target. Her presentation was phenomenal and everyone left knowing how to be safe and what to do. Click here to learn more Personal Safety Tips courtesy of Officer Noel and TPD. Special thanks to Staples for sponsoring this event. Click here to see pictures of the event.
