CROP Walk slated for Nov. 2
For the seventh straight year, Tucson will join 2,000 other international communities via the Church World Service organization to hold a CROP Walk (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty).
A number of faith-based organizations will be participating, and individuals are invited as well. It is determined that 25 percent of fundraising for this event will go to the Casa Maria Soup Kitchen and the Community Food Bank.
The event will take place Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m., beginning at Ramada 5 in Reid Park (south of the zoo).

HR workshop about employee hanbooks slated for Nov. 5
Harry S. Lodge and Associates will be hosting an all-day workshop about employee handbooks and covering legal issues of workplace policies.
The workshop runs Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 465 West St. Mary's, inside the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce offices and will have six continuing-education credits attached. Title VII, the EEOC and the Family Medical Leave Act are among the topics discussed. Registration is $99 per person, $75 for each additional person from a company, and $75 for those who are already clients of Lodge and Associates. Reservations are required as seating is limited.

Foster care summit to be held Nov. 6 at Capitol
The third annual statewide interfaith foster care summit, "150 Ways to Connect," will be held Thursday, Nov. 6, at the State Capitol in Phoenix.
The summit will focus on group-care settings for children, operational program models across the state, a resource expo and networking among those interested in immproving the lives of children in the foster-care community.
The keynote speaker will be Jannah Scott, policy advisor for faith and community initiatives for Gov. Janet Napolitano.

Arizona Iraq veterans to be honored Nov. 8 in Queen Creek
The San Tan Mountain PRIDE Association in Queen Creek will be holding its annual Vetrans Recognition Day, honoring the fallen Arizonans from Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
The event will feature the reading of the 131 names of Arizonans who sacrificed for our country since the Iraq war began in 2003 that are featured on the Nathan Martens Arizona Memorial.

Inaugural Kino Festival to be held Nov. 15
The Patronado de Kino, a local non-profit, will be presentin the first international Kino festival, "La Entrade de Kino," Saturday, Nov. 15, on the banks of the Sant Cruz River on Congree Street west of I-10.
The festival, which begins at 9 a.m., will feature a re-enactment of Father Kino's arrival in Tucson in the late 1690s. The Tohono O'odham and Pascua Yaqui tribes will also be involved, presenting traditional music and dance. following the re-enactment, a symposium regarding the cultural legacy of Fr. Kino will be explored at the Sentinel Building, 310 North Commerce Park Loop (north side of Bonita Avenue). Talks about the history and anthropology of the region around the turn of the 18th century will be featured.

Bisbee home tours, art auction set for Nov. 28-29
The Bisbee Woman's Club once again will be the host for the 26th annual historic home tour in Bisbee and the seventh annual "Chairs orf Bisbee" art chair auction, slated for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28-29.
All three districts of Bisbee will be featured in the home tour, with 10 homes of varying sizes that have never been toured before. Specially painted and decorated chairs by local artists will be available for silent-auction bids as well.
